BAZZONI, Alberto. Centaur, 30 years, sculpture in earthware, cm. 41

BAZZONI, Alberto  (S. Nicomede di Salsomaggiore 1889-Milano 1973)

In 1922 Alberto Bazzoni (1889-1973) won the concourse for the Reggio Emilia monument that was inaugurated, in all its impressiveness, on the 30th October 1927. Bazzoni, a sculptor born in Salsomaggiore (Pr) and formed in the Academy of Parma, is the author of a lot of similar monuments in Emilia: Salsomaggiore, Gualtieri, Montecchio, Collecchio…
The monument to the Fallen soldier in Reggio Emilia links architecture and sculpture: on the opposite side of the block Bazzoni settled a Fante – clearly on the Eugenio Baroni’s model – and a Victory with a sword and a shield.
